The Root Mean Squared Error represents the standard deviation of the residuals. It is measured in the units of the dependent variable. 

For example, a RMSD of 3 would tell us that MOST of our predictions are within 3 units of our observed Y. 

Even simpler, most (or 68%) of our predictions are wrong by less than 3.
